I joined the international crew of ARTE TV’s “360° Reportage – Extraordinary Lives, Extraordinary Lands” for an on-location documentary shoot in Torreira, Aveiro (Portugal).
This episode focuses on the Moliceiros — the iconic, hand-crafted boats of the Aveiro lagoon — and the people who keep this tradition alive. Over three filming days, we documented the final stages of building a new Moliceiro, its emotional “bota abaixo” (first water launch), and the energy of the Moliceiros regatta, alongside interviews with local artisans and community voices.
During three days on location as part of the ARTE TV crew, my role as cinematographer was to translate the atmosphere of the Ria de Aveiro into images: the texture of woodwork, the pride of craftsmanship, the tension before the launch, and the movement of the boats during the race.
The short version (approx. 30 minutes) was released on ARTE and can be accessed through the official link below. At the time of this update, a longer cut (around 50 minutes) was also planned for broadcast.

Corporate shoot for Microsoft with Ghost Atomic Pictures at Nestlé Campus Lisbon
I collaborated with Ghost Atomic Pictures – a film and video production company based in California, USA – as a videographer in Lisbon on a Microsoft project filmed at the Nestlé Campus in Portugal.
The brief focused on capturing corporate b-roll and a few short sound bites on location. We worked with a two-camera setup (Sony FX3) on gimbals to achieve smooth moving shots, coordinating closely with the client’s producer throughout the filming day. Although the shoot took place on a stormy, overcast day with periods of rain, the decision was made to work only with the natural and existing practical light inside the building.
This meant combining the soft daylight coming through the windows with the different types of artificial lighting already installed in the offices and circulation areas, including fixtures with mixed colour temperatures.
The challenge was to maintain a coherent visual look while respecting the authentic atmosphere of the Nestlé Campus and the natural workflow of the people working there. This project is a good example of how international film and video productions can be supported locally in Lisbon, Portugal, using compact cinema cameras, flexible setups and a light footprint that adapts to real corporate environments.
Golf Instruction Videography: Creative Visuals in Action with Performance Golf
We completed the video production for a golf instruction video commissioned by Performance Golf. The project required managing two distinct filming environments while ensuring visual consistency:
- Exterior: Filming took place at the scenic Belas Clube de Campo golf course, near Lisbon, capturing outdoor sequences under natural light.
- Interior: The video crew also filmed sequences at a high-quality golf simulator studio in Lisbon, utilizing controlled professional lighting for the indoor shots.
Our professional video crew implemented a comprehensive setup to guarantee high-quality Educational Video Content:
- Dual Camera Setup: We used a two-camera configuration for multiple angles and dedicated audio for two speakers.
- Production Control: A teleprompter was utilized to ensure smooth, scripted delivery, while meticulous lighting management maintained visual and aesthetic consistency across both filming environments.

That’s a Wrap: RAMMA’s Gothic Music Video ‘O Inferno Arde em Mim’ Completed
Post-production was completed for the music video “O Inferno Arde em Mim”, performed by RAMMA — a dark, cinematic journey filmed inside the Palácio do Marquês de Pombal, Portugal. The official music video was released in 2025.
This project was a true artistic and technical challenge, combining:
- Night shoots and low-light cinematography
- Unique historic interiors, from the baroque chapel to underground wine cellars and lush formal gardens
- Detailed pre-production, with careful location scouting and visual planning for each scene
- Meticulous post-production, including advanced colour grading, visual effects, and sound design
- A moody, gothic aesthetic, matching the emotional depth of RAMMA’s powerful lyrics and performance
Each frame was treated with the same attention as a film. This is more than a music video — it’s a visual poem about grief, memory, and inner fire.

“Sikat Subar” Screened at the 17th International Unseen Film Festival – Film Sozialak Bilbao 2025
The documentary Sikat Subar was officially selected for the 17th International Unseen Film Festival “Film Sozialak” in Bilbao, Spain, held from October 16 to 23, 2025. The film screened at Cines Golem in Bilbao on October 17, 2025. See the official 2025 festival catalogue and the festival selections and awards page.
Organized by Kultura Communication y Desarrollo (KCD), a Spanish non-profit association promoting equitable and sustainable human development, the festival is one of the leading European platforms for socially engaged cinema. It features a curated selection of international documentaries, short films, and visual works that address themes such as interculturality, human rights, gender equity, and environmental sustainability.
Sikat Subar was presented in the Interculturality category, which highlights stories that reflect cultural diversity, human migration, coexistence, and opposition to xenophobia and discrimination. The documentary tells a personal and collective story of resilience, identity, and cultural memory from the perspective of East Timorese communities.
The festival venues include Azkuna Zentroa Alhóndiga Bilbao and Golem cinemas, with additional screenings held at public institutions and schools across the Basque Country. Alongside film screenings, the festival hosts Cine Forums, offering audiences the opportunity to engage directly with filmmakers from around the world. Now in its 17th edition, Film Sozialak continues to build on its mission to support filmmakers working in the field of social transformation and justice.
Filming for ARTE TV in Aveiro — Honouring the Moliceiros
I joined the international crew of “360° Reportage – Extraordinary Lives, Extraordinary Lands”, a documentary series from ARTE TV (Germany & France), for three days of filming in the Torreira region of Aveiro, Portugal. Produced and directed by Maria-Christina Degen (Global Voyager Filmproduction), the episode focuses on the Moliceiros — traditional Portuguese boats handcrafted in Aveiro and celebrated as a symbol of maritime heritage.
During the shoot, I documented the final stage of construction of a new Moliceiro, its ceremonial bota abaixo (first water launch), and the vibrant regatta that brings these boats to life. I also filmed interviews with local artisans and community members who continue this unique tradition. As cinematographer, my focus was on capturing the visual poetry of the lagoon, the emotion of the launch, and the dynamic spirit of the regatta — contributing to a film that honours Portugal’s living cultural legacy.
Behind the Production of a Gothic Music Video in a Historic Portuguese Palace
During production of RAMMA’s music video “O Inferno Arde em Mim”, we filmed entirely inside the historic Palácio do Marquês de Pombal, just outside Lisbon. Its architecture, interiors and formal gardens provided the setting for a dark and emotionally charged visual story.
Shot entirely at night, the production explored the artistic challenges of low-light cinematography. From candlelit corridors to silhouettes framed in shadow, the cinematography was designed to support the gothic mood and expressionist visual style of the piece.
As director and cinematographer, I worked closely with RAMMA to shape the visual narrative, combining gothic romanticism with a contemporary cinematic approach.
The project was produced through Creative Visuals and later completed and released in 2025. It is now part of the Creative Visuals music video portfolio.
Exploring CinemaDNG & Mobile RAW Workflows for Agile Filmmaking
As part of ongoing exploration into alternative video production methods, we have tested the integration of mobile RAW video recording, including CinemaDNG format, into our cinematography toolkit.
While our main productions continue to rely on professional cinema cameras and lenses, this parallel exploration focuses on how agile, pocket-sized equipment can support flexible, high-quality filmmaking — particularly when optimized for RAW workflows.
Capturing video in DNG (Digital Negative) format preserves sensor data for greater flexibility in post-production, especially for exposure, contrast and colour grading. The tests have focused on:
- Image quality and sensor performance in diverse lighting
- Grading flexibility from RAW DNG footage
- Storage, workflow, and editing implications of mobile RAW files
Although RAW files demand more processing power and storage, the creative advantages they offer may prove valuable for documentary work, run-and-gun filming, or location scouting — where discretion and mobility matter.
These tests reflect our ongoing exploration as filmmakers and cinematographers, combining established cinematic practices with emerging mobile technologies. Conducted in various production contexts, including recent tests around Lisbon, they support our broader commitment to offering adaptable, professional-grade video production solutions — both in traditional setups and agile, on-the-go environments.
Diogo Pessoa de Andrade joins AIP – Associação de Imagem Cinema-Televisão Portuguesa
I was officially accepted as a member of AIP – Associação de Imagem Cinema-Televisão Portuguesa, a non-profit professional and cultural association that brings together cinematographers and image professionals in Portugal. Its work includes promoting the art and profession of cinematography and supporting recognition of cinematographic authorship.
As a non-profit professional and cultural association, AIP works to defend the moral rights and creative authorship of its members, establish shared professional standards, and support ongoing education and recognition through initiatives like the AIP Cinema Awards.
I am honoured to be part of this distinguished community of Portuguese DoPs, and I look forward to continuing to contribute to the art and evolution of cinematic storytelling through Creative Visuals and international collaboration.
Filming Algarve Wellness – Promotional Video Production in Portugal
Filming at Algarve Wellness – Promotional Video Production in the Algarve, Portugal. We travelled to the Algarve to film a promotional video for Algarve Wellness, a wellness and addiction recovery retreat in southern Portugal. The project focused on the centre’s approach to healing, mental health and well-being.
Our production included a two-camera interview setup with CEO Melissa Coetzee, interior cinematography capturing the atmosphere of the house, and aerial footage of the Algarve location.
At the time of this update, the project had moved into post-production, with a professional American voiceover planned and our team handling editing, colour correction and colour grading.

Sikat Subar: A Hidden Colorful Feather is catalogued by the Heritage Broadcasting Service (Heritage SVOD), operated by the Archaeological Legacy Institute, the organisation behind The Archaeology Channel.
Following its international festival run, with selections and awards across multiple countries, Sikat Subar has continued to reach audiences interested in anthropology, culture and visual storytelling.
The Heritage catalogue focuses on films related to archaeology, anthropology and cultural heritage. The inclusion of Sikat Subar extends the documentary’s availability to a specialised audience interested in the cultural and social history of Timor-Leste.

Filming at Ericeira Business Factory - Supporting Innovation in Portugal
We filmed at Ericeira Business Factory, an innovation hub by the Municipality of Mafra that supports startups in tech, tourism, sustainability, blue economy and agrifood sectors. The shoot was in collaboration with A MAJORTOM, a creative design and communication agency. Our crew captured interviews and b-roll using a multicamera setup.
Among those filmed were Marta Miraldes, coordinator of Mafra & Ericeira Business Factory, Mayor Hugo Moreira Luís, and several resident professionals - including a filmmaker, architect, content writer, and creative entrepreneurs.

Corporate Video Production for iBASIS in Lisbon, Portugal
We completed a corporate video shoot at the iBASIS offices in Lisbon, filming a series of interviews with key members of the team, including Group CEO Patrick George and other senior executives. The production involved two filmmakers / Directors of Photography (DoPs) and a four-camera setup for multi-angle interview coverage.
iBASIS works in communications technology, including messaging, mobile services, 5G roaming and IoT connectivity.

Filming Support for Microsoft & Novobanco – Local Production Services in Portugal
We partnered with Danish production company Flicker Factory to support the filming of a video about the strategic partnership between Microsoft and Novobanco, focused on data-driven innovation and AI in the banking sector.
Creative Visuals provided full local production support in Portugal, including: – Location scouting and suggesting filming sites based on the client's vision – Film permit coordination for public and private locations – Equipment rental and transportation (camera, sound, lighting) – Local crew coordination, including a production assistant/driver and sound engineer – Ground logistics, transport organization, and facilitating local contacts Filming took place at three key locations: Novobanco HQ at Taguspark (Oeiras), the historic Fábrica da Pólvora de Barcarena, and the Noble Hall of Palácio do Marquês de Pombal.
New Collaboration | Filming for Deciphera Pharmaceuticals in Lisbon
We worked with Deciphera Pharmaceuticals on a production in Lisbon, Portugal, filming a testimonial interview with a patient followed by conference coverage during a Deciphera event. Deciphera is a biopharmaceutical company focused on oncology and became a wholly owned subsidiary of Ono Pharmaceutical in 2024.
The project was carried out in collaboration with our trusted partners at Get Camera Crew, with whom we've worked on several international productions.

New Milestone for the Documentary Film "Sikat Subar"
We're proud to announce that Sikat Subar - a hidden colorful feather, the debut feature-length documentary by Portuguese filmmaker Diogo Pessoa de Andrade, has been officially archived at the prestigious Blinken OSA Archivum at Central European University (CEU) in Budapest. This archive preserves essential works related to human rights, global culture, and historical memory.
Sikat Subar is an award-winning independent documentary filmed entirely in Timor-Leste, exploring the ancient and controversial tradition of cockfighting (futu manu) and its deep social, cultural, and economic impact. With stunning cinematography, drone footage, and intimate storytelling, the film offers a rare and immersive perspective on a symbolic and complex tradition.
This achievement reflects our mission at Creative Visuals: to tell meaningful stories through independent film, creative documentary, and ethical video production in Portugal and beyond.

Filming for Ripple & Unicâmbio - A Major Partnership Announcement
On February 10, 2025, Ripple announced a groundbreaking partnership with Unicâmbio, one of Portugal's leading currency exchange providers. This collaboration marks Ripple's first expansion into the Portuguese market, enabling instant, low-cost international transactions between Portugal and Brazil through Ripple Payments, a blockchain-based solution powered by the XRP Ledger (XRPL).
Given Portugal's thriving crypto ecosystem, this partnership is a game-changer for cross-border payments, significantly reducing settlement times and costs for Unicâmbio's corporate clients.
As Cassie Craddock, Ripple's Managing Director for the UK and Europe, stated: "By connecting our payment networks in Portugal and Brazil, we're facilitating faster and more efficient international payments while strengthening the economic bridge between these two major markets."
We had the opportunity to produce a video for Ripple and Unicâmbio highlighting this partnership and its impact. Our production took place at Unicâmbio's headquarters in Lisbon, where we filmed an exclusive interview with Adriana Jerónimo, Executive Board Member at Unicâmbio. We also captured b-roll footage at Unicâmbio's corporate offices and their downtown Lisbon branch.

The video we produced for Tripadvisor's new Lisbon office has been officially published on Uniplaces. This project, produced in collaboration with Get Camera Crew, showcases the beautifully designed workspace that blends Tripadvisor's global identity with the vibrant cultural influences of Lisbon, the Mediterranean, Africa, and Arabia.
As a filmmaker and cinematographer (DoP), I was responsible for capturing high-quality video content that showcases the modern and functional design of the space.
Through high-quality cinematography, we captured carefully curated textures, bespoke furniture, and architectural details. The space was designed to foster creativity, collaboration, and connection, reflecting both local character and Tripadvisor's innovative spirit.

Our documentary, "Sikat Subar – A Hidden Colourful Feather", was awarded Runner-Up in the Documentary Feature category at the Xposure International Film Awards 2025, held during the 9th International Photography Festival in Sharjah, UAE.

On January 25, 2025, "Sikat Subar" was screened at Sophia University in Tokyo as part of the Asian Studies Seminar: Life and Society in Post-Independence Timor-Leste. The event included a film screening and a panel discussion about social and cultural transformations in Timor-Leste.
It was an honor to contribute to academic discussions on post-independence identity, economy, and tradition in Timor-Leste, alongside scholars from the Japan Society for Southeast Asian Studies (JSSEAS).

It was a privilege to work with m3ter, a trailblazer in usage-based billing solutions for B2B software. Our team captured key visuals to showcase m3ter's innovative approach to transforming customer usage data into seamless billing processes.

Filming for Birkenstock: A Documentary for SWR
This documentary, produced by German broadcaster SWR, explores Birkenstock’s quality, pricing, sustainability, and success. I contributed as the filmmaker for the Portuguese segment, working with a German journalist to capture interviews, aerial footage, and dynamic visuals.
Using a two-camera setup, we documented expert insights and cinematic scenes that enriched the storytelling. The film highlights Birkenstock’s brand strength, sustainability practices, and global expansion, even appearing in Hollywood productions.
Behind the Scenes of an Interactive Racing Experience
A behind-the-scenes look at my campaign video for LEDSRACE – Racing Innovation Illuminated. Developed by Jitter and conceived by Adam Hott, the interactive piece uses an LED-lit representation of the Zandvoort circuit, combining motorsport, electronics and design.
From developing the creative concept and securing the studio space to filming, editing and audio post-production, I handled the audiovisual production as a solo filmmaker. The LEDSRACE Kickstarter campaign later launched in May 2025.

We are excited to share a behind-the-scenes look at one of our recent projects, a comprehensive football agent course created for aspiring sports professionals. This initiative was developed in collaboration with The Football Business Academy (FBA), a leading institution for football business education based in Switzerland, and featured the expertise of Dr. Erkut Sogut, a renowned sports agent and attorney with extensive international experience.
Over three distinct modules, we filmed at key locations around Lisbon, each tailored to specialized topics:
- Estádio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica: Filming a session on Operational Management with Pedro Correia, focusing on the corporate side of operations within sports organizations and the planning and delivery of major sporting events.
- Estádio José Alvalade: Capturing immersive training sessions highlighting strategic insights for football agents and business executives within the sporting industry.
- Abreu Advogados Offices: Shooting a course module on Sports Law featuring Dr. Alexandre Miguel Mestre for the AFC Football Management Diploma Programme.
